While previously writing my Bachelor Thesis on the topic of print publications within fashion, I’ve been pretty much analysing the case of the Swedish success brand, the hardly conventional ACNE Studios, and it’s creative marketing tool:ACNE PAPER. I think I’m not telling a secret when I say, I love ACNE. I love the story about how did it all start up with Jonny Johansson’s 100 pair of jeans, the way they merge contemporary scandinavian attributes in high-end fashion pieces. ACNE stands for principled aesthetics, for edgy but slightly twisted ones. For the latest ACNE collection, Katerina Jebb created artworks by scanning historical garments from the Musée Galliera’s archive and using them to construct photomontages, mostly of the inside of the garments. Since the inside is usually unseen, obscure and not meant to be displayed, the result is unexpected, almost intimate and brutally honest. Each collection holds to a certain amount of mystery, as does ACNE’s key to success.
