3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall 2013 (All images: Fairchild)
I guess we are in a little post-and pre fashion week panic in terms of finding the right bag that ‘swallows’ all the necessities such as laptops, iPads a bunch of origami invites and a pair of comfy shoes for the end of the day. While busy searching blogs, I bumped into the brilliant 3.1 Phillip Lim pre-fall 2013 collection and I couldn’t resist sharing with you some of my favourite snapshots of this sight-pleasing simplicity that the collection carries. The range of accessories include hip and chic pieces inspired by tough bikers, and urban allure through the eye of the statement-making Phillip Lim. I particularly appreciate the ease of achieving such beautiful toughness by cleverly dealing with colour and texture that flawlessly completes an outfit but it is also a functional piece for your day-to-day essentials. The collection discovers an array of cool, while staying certainly loyal to the Lim-like woman and yet satisfying sartorial cravings in terms of accessories such as bags, shoes, sunnies and iPad cases. Fashion Week season, here we come!
(more…)
As much as the Los Angeles glam attracts us that much it’s tossing with it’s overly commercial and materialist morality – but there are a few exceptions…and such great ones. The sister design duo – Maryam and Marjan Malakpour who are artists in multiple mediums – behind the accessories label NewbarK, enchants its customers with pieces that are handcrafted in Los Angeles out of the best leathers, canvas, felt, and suede, thus reflect edgy sophistication. Our favourite Spring/Summer 2013 collection includes simple designs: flat shoes, handbags and jewellery while providing a stylish alternative for the contemporary woman on the go. The monochrome texture-clash and oversize designs perfectly demonstrate our deepest desires when it comes to accessories – of course all impeccably crafted from prime materials. Luckily, NewbarK continues to constantly expand, but their design aesthetic always remains intact: clean, sophisticated, timeless – exactly as we like it.
(more…)

I have read an interesting article on Vogue the other day concerning the shoes issue, which discusses the topic of ‘women are wearing shoes that also have to please men.’ To be frank, with my 174 cm height, I never really bothered wearing high-heels unless the occasion literally demanded to do so. However, just as with many other things in life, with age, your perception in this matter changes as well. The article, which you can read here featured designer Christian Louboutin’s thoughts on whether women buy their shoes with men in mind. If we take the approach that states that women are obsessed with shoes and men are obsessed with female legs the straightforward result shows that men do care what women are wearing on their feet. As tempting as it can be to stockpile your shoe closet with feathery, sparkling, sky-high heels, which you know you will not wear more than once already in the moment you are buying them, I would suggest to pile on a nice pair of light and dark suede pumps, a crazy platform one, wooden wedges for the summer, ballerinas and sandals in the colours you love, a nice pair of lets say Isabel Marant boots that work well in the upcoming festival season too, a pair of converse or vans (choose the leopard one). Depending on your style and lifestyle, if you fall for heels, don’t forget to get a pair in gold and get a pair in silver and with men on mind choose your best match every time you can afford the amazing treat of buying a pair of new beauties.
(more…)
Once you get a felicitous nickname, it will stick with you forever. This is what happened with Sarah Jessica Parker who will never be the SJP without the reminiscence-pieces of Carry Bradshaw from the eponymous series, Sex and the City. Probably most of us secretly awaited the collaboration, which is finally yet to come true and be launched together with George Malkemus, longtime head of Manolo Blahnik and will display a rather SJP-of-a-kind than a Carry Bradshaw-of-a-kind shoe collection besides an edit of bags and a few trench coats. As stated on Vogue earlier yesterday ‘The actress is taking inspiration from “great old-school labels like Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon” for her collection, with the aim of offering “something different” – in terms of shape, colour, and price.’ The SJP collection will be produced entirely in Europe and New York City, and will be on sale exclusively through US retailer Nordstrom early next year. We cannot wait to see what tastemaker SJP comes up with;)
(more…)
Jimmy Choo has yesterday revealed that the star (face and feet) of his next campaign will be the Oscar-winning actress, Nicole Kidman (45) in the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2013/14 campaign. Nicole Kidman is no stranger to fashion ads, having posed previously for Omega watches, or as the face of Chanel No. 5 for years. But the latter was sort of a classy and intimate match of the fragrance and Kidman. Now, we are looking ahead to an exciting collaboration, where she’s gotta play a sexier role – judging from Choo’s previous campaigns. As it was stated in Vogue: The imagery was shot last month by photographer Mikael Jansson and is described as having ‘a cinematic feel that hints at the power and seduction of the Jimmy Choo woman’. The adverts will premiere globally in August issues.

Who doesn’t like to make an appearance? The colour and texture gold or golden is one of the best choice to do so. The key, I would say is the proportion, the balance, the combination. By learning to build in gold/golden to you wardrobe it opens new dimensions. Gold/golden has always been there; your jewellery, your grandma’s vintage cutlery collection, the frame of your paintings on the wall, but most of all your heart! Let it be in your wardrobe too, it’s meant to be there!
(more…)
