The American brand, Michael Kors has released a video starring the beautiful Estonian model Karmen Pedaru, titled ‘Sporty Sexy Glam’, featuring a new beauty range that includes a body care collection, make-up, self-tanning products, and fragrances. The designer told WWD about his inspiration behind the perfumes: “I think those three things-sexy, sporty and glam-have always been the DNA of Michael Kors, and in a strange way, the Michael Kors woman really is all three of those things. It’s just that she feels more strongly about one of them at certain given times” – Kors explained. Whether you embrace the attitude of sporty, sexy or glamorous you will be able to find both the matching scent and colour in the shades of soft neutrals, sexy reds and playfully shiny pinks. The fragrances, which also keep the ‘Sporty Sexy Glam’ theme will embody an orange and mandarin scent for the sporty, whereas both glam and sexy will be consisting of natural woody scents with a hint of fruity infusions. I like Calvin Klein…I love the fragrances and when I saw the latest short film they created my heart was blown away – it was like a dream coming true…And why? Let’s start in the beginning before I get too excited. So it is all because the mini film features three of my beloved creatives in the persons of Rooney Mara actress, David Fincher director – who worked together on ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and the ‘Social Network’ movies earlier, while the music is played by the must-see band called Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The film is using the effect of slow motion and Mara is only shown in black and white what makes it mysterious and enigmatic as ever in a rather moody atmosphere. Telling the story of an actress who goes from subway so effortlessly with a classy, laid back simplicity that Rooney and Calvin Klein have in common. Rooney told WWD: “It’s an honour to be part of a brand with such a legacy of breakthrough advertising. The Downtown fragrance holds true to the chic, confident and simple feeling of the Calvin brand. The effortless and timeless appeal of the Calvin Klein Collection and the Downtown scent made this a natural partnership.” More lovely films like this please!

During my previous stay in Paris, I ran into the eponymous diptyque Store on Boulevard St Germain, where it all begun back in 1961. It happened to be that three friends named Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant, all from the world of fine arts and décor, decided to open a store. It wasn’t a conventional one, mainly not at the time – they displayed and sold their own plain print designs, besides traditional British fragrances. Since then, guided by this rich heritage, the brand got widely known from its iconic oval shape logo with the number ’34’ on it, hence referring to the street number of the shop on Boulevard St Germain. By moving on the wallpapers and print designs, there was born a unique fragrance, one for both body and home, both encompassing love for the nature, through carefully chosen raw materials and yet giving them a clear, distinctive signature. Wrap yourself in luxury with diptyque products!

Perfume is a bit like the ‘love at first sight’ cliche. It’s an intimate encounter between you and the fragrance. You only fall in love if the fragrance is blended perfectly for you, if you are the exact match. It’s a process as a fragrance becomes the part of one’s personality, but from then on that little bottle signifies your personal luxury. While you are young you experiment a lot; from fruity and sweet to the airy or even spicy scents. Probably I’m not the best person to give suggestions perfume-wise though; the truth is that since childhood I was involved in sports, so I always preferred something fresh and fruity but not cheap. Long time ago I voted for Yves Rocher’s coconut fragrance and that was love at first sight and still is, but it happened to be that I got a Coco Mademoiselle, which was the birth of my second love…

Parfüm ist ein bisschen wie ‘Liebe auf dem ersten Blick’. Man verliebt sich nur, wenn der Duft perfekt für einen abgemischt ist, wenn man das perfekte Paar ergibt. (more…)

How amazing! Finally this short film allows us to get to know some history behind the most  famous bottle of perfume, Chanel N°5. This is a video that merges perfectly a product commercial and a corporate image publication in one. I love to hear and watch the story like a montage, so engaging! They really gave a lot of thoughts to small details e.g. the narrator speaks english with french accent. Finally here is an ad I watch not only from the beginning till the end but more times. And one more plus point for Chanel’s creative team:  after so many great women, from the middle of october this year there will be a man promoting Chanel N°5: Brad Pitt(!).

Wie wunderbar! Endlich lässt uns dieser kurze Film einen Einblick auf die Geschichte hinter dem berühmtesten Parfum, Chanel N°5, werfen. Dieses Video verbindet auf perfekte Weise die Werbung eines Produktes mit der Darstellung des Firmenimages. Ich liebe es, die Geschichte wie eine Montage zu hören und zu sehen, so fesselnd! Sie haben sich auch wirklich Gedanken zu den kleinsten Details gemacht, zum Beispiel spricht der Erzähler Englisch mit französischem Akzent. Endlich eine Werbung, die ich nicht nur von Anfang bis zum Ende sondern sogar mehrfach anschaue. Und noch ein weiterer Pluspunkt für Chanels Creative Team: nach so vielen großartigen Frauen wird ab Mitte Oktober diesen Jahres ein Mann Chanel N°5 promoten: Brad Pitt (!).
