With the age and having worked and lived in the ever-changing fashion industry since quite a bit, ones’ shopping habits need to show some sort of consciousness and loyalty towards your own personal style. By the way, are guys any conscious shoppers? Anyway, what my routine is lately that I’m trying to make inspiration boards, browse streetstyle blogs and most of all check my garments from last season to see what could be mixed and matched with my new in-s. Besides the must-have pale-pink wool coat, I’ll definitely go for a pair of thigh-high suede boots, preferably the flat ones though. While searching for the proper style, I ran into this lovely video staring Kate Moss for Stuart Weitzman‘s AW13 ‘Made for Walking’ campaign video. As much I love everything about the shoes, that much I love the video too; directed by independent filmmaker Balthazar Klarwein, the short film brings to life the tangible thrill of Kate Moss stepping out in central London wearing Stuart Weitzman boots paired with her very own stylish and sexy attitude. If the shoes and Moss herself wouldn’t be appealing enough, a modern remake of the classic Nancy Sinatra song ‘These Boots Are Made for Walking’ is played throughout the video. Will you guys get a pair too? – because we are sold!
(more…)
The logo mania and the wordy statements are officially back, thank to among others the rather genius designer and our New York Fashion Week-crush Alexander Wang. Wang told style.com about his nostalgic references with the logo prints as he feels for the time when “fashion was really fun, when there was wit and humor, and it wasn’t so serious.” The in-your-face aspect of the logos and massive too-cool-to-care edge of the collection felt like Wang’s attempt to reconnect with the streets; the streets of New York City. The collection allowed to show much of the skin such as long legs walking beneath pleated skirts and short shorts, or some bare flash of midriffs being uncovered by crop-tops. The designer opted for a softer colour palette for the Spring/Summer 2014 season including pale blues, greys and black&white combinations applied on the laser-cut leathers and soft cottons, which he presented buttoned at the neck with matching boxer shorts; yet achieved a proper street style love affair.
I guess we are in a little post-and pre fashion week panic in terms of finding the right bag that ‘swallows’ all the necessities such as laptops, iPads a bunch of origami invites and a pair of comfy shoes for the end of the day. While busy searching blogs, I bumped into the brilliant 3.1 Phillip Lim pre-fall 2013 collection and I couldn’t resist sharing with you some of my favourite snapshots of this sight-pleasing simplicity that the collection carries. The range of accessories include hip and chic pieces inspired by tough bikers, and urban allure through the eye of the statement-making Phillip Lim. I particularly appreciate the ease of achieving such beautiful toughness by cleverly dealing with colour and texture that flawlessly completes an outfit but it is also a functional piece for your day-to-day essentials. The collection discovers an array of cool, while staying certainly loyal to the Lim-like woman and yet satisfying sartorial cravings in terms of accessories such as bags, shoes, sunnies and iPad cases. Fashion Week season, here we come!
(more…)
