Italian brand Marni was founded by Consuelo Castiglioni back in 1994, who has been the label’s designer ever since, and has made her designs renown of iconic luxury and edge through a modern approach to materials and silhouette, juxtaposing colour, exclusive prints and textures. Her latest Sping/Summer 2014 collection included straight mid-calf skirts, bandeau crop tops and trousers that were almost cartoonishly wide. You could almost split up the the collection to a ‘purist’ and ‘excessive’ group; the latter was speaking of even ruffles and beaded embellishments applied on bombers and pencil skirts matched with sporty bejewelled visors and statement neck-pieces. The group of ‘purists’ embraced floral prints applied on flowing sheers and a bunch of powder-coloured pieces on which ruffles only detailed the edges. By the way the speciality of the show was as – due to a technical problem – the catwalk show happened in proper silence yet resulted a concentrated appreciation towards the pieces in Milan. I guess we will be seeing the pieces in the coolest editorials quite soon!

Jason Wu is a Taiwanese-Canadian fashion designer based in New York City. He is most famous for designing the dresses of Michelle Obama on several occasions and to the woman with the crave for luxurious edge. To stick to the latter, Jason Wu invites women in each season to celebrate fashion as the most beautiful art expression. His Resort 2013 pieces embrace edgy effeminacy, delicate floral ornamentation and detail rich embellishments such as custom-made stones for Wu by Swarovski Elements. The designer playfully combined the dramatic pieces with basics in his collection that result a beautiful, yet cool mixture of styles. The garments furthermore spoke of quality and wearability that make his design even more desirable. Not to forget about the accessories, Jason mastered the bags as well that came in three-color combos and reflected the electric hues of the clothes, and also shoes ranged from evening sandals to pumps and fancy flats. All of it please!

Giles Deacon is a British fashion designer, and is best known for his playful designs, which are blurring the boundaries between high art and pop culture, through the roots of intense craftsmanship – what grounds Deacon as a designer also. The king of dark romance did a remarkable job of balancing out shapes, as well as in intricately applying laser cut techniques on the palest of antique gold, and yet again succeeded in producing couture-quality garments together with some very wearable pieces. All of his designs carry a great deal of theatrical features, where the delicate, yet strong prints and contrast of different materials rule the overall atmosphere of the collection. In his Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, most notably, the sleeves were back in exaggerated shapes and sizes, while the ethereal gowns and otherworldly creations also carried a great hint of melancholy blended strong artistic vision. Apparently he took inspiration from the idea of heaven and hell, to me though, this is just pure heaven!
