The brand’s famous motto, ‘When your own initials are enough’ expresses a philosophy of individuality and confidence that now applies to a range of products including women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, fine jewellery, furniture, and much more what Bottega Veneta creates. Frankly, I loved their latest women’s collection far the most with all its subtly yet delicately twisted detailes, where the deep rusty bronze silks and organic wools were intricately constructed and precisely matched. Tomas Maier gave us a raw, luxurious woman; the seams were emphasised yet at the same time almost hidden, embellishment mash-ups decorated the prime quality textures, thus bringing us a whole new sophisticated world á la Bottega Veneta with a hint of contemporary coolness attached.
Das berühmte Motto der Marke, ‘When your own initials are enough’ (zu deutsch ‘Wenn die eigenen Initialen ausreichen’), bringt die Philosophie von Individualität und Selbstbewusstsein zum Ausdruck, die nun auf eine Reihe von Produkten angewandt wird, inklusive Frauen- und Männermode, edlen Schmuck, Möbel und vieles mehr, was Bottega Veneta kreiert. White is a colour that is the most complete and pure, the colour of perfection. The colour meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. White is totally reflective; it is awakening openness, growth and creativity. Designing homes in pure white refers to a minimalistic style, and usually features spacious proportions and contemporary furnishing. All-white interior can blend the feeling of cleanness and beauty with sort of rigidness, which can easily be superable with fresh flowers, joyfully playing kids or just simply with the warmness of the tenants. So what’s prompted ones to have such bright and monochromic home? Maybe the desire for clean lines and simplicity or to offset hot climate with cool tones…one thing is sure, it’s fully stylish.
Weiß ist die vollkommenste und reinste Farbe, die Farbe der Perfektion. Sie steht für Reinheit, Unschuld, Vollständigkeit und Vollkommenheit.
Nicole Farhi AW13
British label Nicole Farhi’s design principles carry a great deal of androgyny through a very modern, refined edge. Farhi’s garments suggest masculinity with a feminine twist in balanced proportions and contrasting textures. Her Autumn/Winter 2013 collection speaks of pure precision and clean-cut tailoring, while picturing a muted colour palette, which merges the traditional with contemporary, the cool with edgy, and the structured with effortless. Luckily SilkSoFine got to see and touch the whole brand new collection, and since then, we are dreaming about these cozy knits and oversized laid-back tweed coats.

Sandra Sandor behind the Hungarian contemporary label Nanushka, reflected a deeply mysterious, yet truly modern story on her Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. Her inspiration was drawn from a book, titled ‘Conference of the Birds’, which speaks about fire as a major motif, an elemental source in the Sufi tradition. Sandra applied these motifs and contradicting elements to her collection: Black and white pieces mixed in balanced proportions with a colour palette loyal to Sufi manuscripts. The lush fabrics blended classy shapes recalled proper one-of-a-kind pieces, by merging laid-back sporty edge with folklore elements. We heart it!

We have met lovely Katie Rowland during Paris Fashion Week, the jewellery designer who draws inspiration from the eternal muse, the femme fatale, by placing the powerful, yet beautiful women in the centre of her designs. The inspiration speaks of mythology and history where the sophisticated women craves to rule, while being highly seductive, just as Morrigan, the Celtic goddess was. Katie is renowned for only using precious and visually breath-taking materials such as semi-precious stones, just like garnet, amethyst, black spinel and blue topaz. The collection speaks for itself, its sensual and contemporary with a touch of dark edge added.
