Recently following Peter Pilotto‘s collections, each time I come to realise that it’s a new match made in heaven. Pilotto doesn’t do shine nor trousers, but instead explosive prints and highly voluminous dresses. The volumed effect was inspired by the L.A.-based artist, Ken Price ceramicist, who was particularly clever at creating a sense of depth and dappled variety in his glazes. The most emphasized shape among the pieces was a sculpted bell-shaped-skirt through exploring the boundaries of futuristic versus cute and leaving a rather contradictory stamp for the season. The perfectly rounded forms and electric digital prints combinations recalled a proper vibrant feast for the eyes, this time a more eye-catching than an any practical one. I’d just certainly congratulate, cause the duo dared to show a new-idealism of being fresh and innovative, but still classic and stylish!
(more…)
We don’t want to kill your summer vibe, but the brand new Dior ‘Mystic Metallics’ collection – a radiant blend of metallic textures and mysterious shades – couldn’t predict the upcoming Autumn season any more beautifully. Daria Strokous stars in the new campaign and video photographed by one of the most iconic fashion photographers of all times, Steven Meisel. ‘The beauty range is inspired by Monsieur Dior’s belief in omens and superstitions ranging from his first meeting with fortune-tellers at the age of fourteen.’ The ‘Mystic Metallics’ collection includes a nail varnish set, eyeshadow palette, DiorShow Fusion Mono mousse and blush in rosy shades, which all were made for a wonderfully striking look. Considering the variety of colour-ways and tones, there’s something here for everyone; foiled look for the daring ones and dancing queens, and muted tones for enchanting your everyday look.
(more…)
There was something really beautifully shocking and inspiring about Tom Ford’s AW13 collection, despite all the fur I can’t appreciate much. The collection we saw was filled with tribal prints, colours, florals, comic book resemble prints but also furs, animal prints, beaded embellishments and so much more that it’s hard to properly describe this eclectic mash-up of beautiful fantasies. The Tom Ford AW13 girl is a bunch of fun, enjoying life to the fullest; she’s dominating. After years of private showings, this true visual feast was shown to the big crowd for the first time at London Fashion Week and yet celebrated with all its versatility and buzzing energy the collection suggested. The extravagant patterns, pop art-feel prints , lashings of metallics and sparkle were matched with laid back styling; beauty was kept simple with accentuated eyes in browns and nude and slicked down, side-parted hair. Call it gipsy, ethnic, punk or too much we are sold!
(more…)
It’s rare to find a fashion story which you can fully identify yourself with; I’m not sure what happened – is it the location, the colours, the atmosphere or maybe the balanced mixture of these – but I fell in love with the visual series above. It’s summertime and the living is easy: bikinis, beaches, passports and smoking hot girls and boys. And what is the story trying to say? We cannot escape fashion, and we cannot do without architecture. We tailor to both. We all wear fashion and everyone needs architecture as a place to work or to live in. It’s like day and night, right or wrong, you and me…only perfect when it exists together; in harmony. Fashion photography in the 30’s discovered architecture and urbanity as a space that allows a freer and more dramatic fashion presentation. The fashion story above has a very individual approach to exaggerated proportions of colourful walls along the beach, tanned bodies almost getting lost in the humongous spaces, while still attracting attention to the tiny screenshots of the tanned body-parts. This visual story depicts fashion in unusual and spectacular spaces and yet blurs the borders between art, fashion and architectural photography. The bikinis showcased belong to the German designer Phillip Plein, whose swimwear pieces speak of new luxury, playful silhouettes and bright colour palette. We are ready to get lost in such places!
(more…)
Who doesn’t like to make an appearance? The colour and texture gold or golden is one of the best choice to do so. The key, I would say is the proportion, the balance, the combination. By learning to build in gold/golden to you wardrobe it opens new dimensions. Gold/golden has always been there; your jewellery, your grandma’s vintage cutlery collection, the frame of your paintings on the wall, but most of all your heart! Let it be in your wardrobe too, it’s meant to be there!
(more…)
