Who haven’t heard of Russian-born Maria Sharapova who’s currently ranked number three in the world for women tennis players? The russian beauty took some time out before Wimbledon 2013 to launch her Sugarpova candy line at Selfridges, a high end department store in England – I assume in their Oxford steert store. The world famous tennis player and style icon created a range of sugary treats – after first coming up with the felicitous name Sugarpova, and looks like the name is to be expanded! As she told to Vogue earlier, she sees herself going into cosmetics, and then fashion; creatively, she’s always had a beat for fashion – as we got to know. Taking inspiration from the 18th century, the new Marie Antoinette’s wardrobe is what Mabille recalled, in which the attributes of royalty, elegance and luxury played the leading role, and was strengthen by the twist as the models were styled with silver slicked back French braids. Lace frills and rich strong forms of sweetness dominated throughout the collection, which consistently showcased a new form of couture, or more precisely candy-couture. Tell us whether it is sweet enough for you?!
