Are you ready for some pure pleasure, ladies? Teenage idol Robert Pattison for the Dior Homme advert touched down on the 1st of September and it was well worth all the waiting; shot in sexy black and white against a New York backdrop, the short film speaks of proper seduction. The rather edgy video features Led Zeppelin’s beloved tunes ‘Whole Lotta Love’ as the soundtrack and a whole smoking hot flair with co-star French model Camille Rowe, who’s romantically seducing Pattison (or maybe vice versa) through bedrooms, bathrooms and ballrooms. The video was directed by Romain Gavras, showcasing Rob in all his glory, and predicting a rather masculine yet highly attractive scent as the new Dior Homme perfume. Just as the new cool dictates, the moody actor enjoys a drag on a cigarette, hangs out on roofs, passionately kisses ladies because it’s 2013, so let’s play those games cooler than ever. We don’t want to kill your summer vibe, but the brand new Dior ‘Mystic Metallics’ collection – a radiant blend of metallic textures and mysterious shades – couldn’t predict the upcoming Autumn season any more beautifully. Daria Strokous stars in the new campaign and video photographed by one of the most iconic fashion photographers of all times, Steven Meisel. ‘The beauty range is inspired by Monsieur Dior’s belief in omens and superstitions ranging from his first meeting with fortune-tellers at the age of fourteen.’ The ‘Mystic Metallics’ collection includes a nail varnish set, eyeshadow palette, DiorShow Fusion Mono mousse and blush in rosy shades, which all were made for a wonderfully striking look. Considering the variety of colour-ways and tones, there’s something here for everyone;  foiled look for the daring ones and dancing queens, and muted tones for enchanting your everyday look.

The American brand, Michael Kors has released a video starring the beautiful Estonian model Karmen Pedaru, titled ‘Sporty Sexy Glam’, featuring a new beauty range that includes a body care collection, make-up, self-tanning products, and fragrances. The designer told WWD about his inspiration behind the perfumes: “I think those three things-sexy, sporty and glam-have always been the DNA of Michael Kors, and in a strange way, the Michael Kors woman really is all three of those things. It’s just that she feels more strongly about one of them at certain given times” – Kors explained. Whether you embrace the attitude of sporty, sexy or glamorous you will be able to find both the matching scent and colour in the shades of soft neutrals, sexy reds and playfully shiny pinks. The fragrances, which also keep the ‘Sporty Sexy Glam’ theme will embody an orange and mandarin scent for the sporty, whereas both glam and sexy will be consisting of natural woody scents with a hint of fruity infusions. Being obsessed with the Japanese beauty –  who’s also the current face of Stella McCartney’s fall campaign – Chiharu Okunugi, graces the pages of Vogue China’s August issue for a beauty feature. Besides the beauty editorial, a short film titled ‘Homage’ was made in which Okunugi plays the massive fitness lady role as doing sweaty training for an upcoming match, juxtaposed with rather classical musical selection. In another scene, Okunugi lies seductively on the bed, wearing a creamy silk nightgown, with a fan blowing her hair and ice cooling down her skin. In the photo shoot the model sparkled in elegant looks ranging from sporty to ultra-feminine styles while personifying the idea of true beauty.

Ever since I’m living in a Nordic country, I was amazed by women’s skin here…Despite all the age issues, their skin stays beautiful, and by that I mean naturally fresh and healthy looking. It has probably much to do with the positive attitude that rules here, but also lifestyle habits and the quality skincare products they are using. Anyway, some swears for sleeping, some swears for make-up. And here comes the ever-perfect Chanel that besides its clothing line leads the beauty segment too. Their latest beauty campaign titled, Where Beauty Begins is starring the new Chanel Cosmetics’ face, the 37-year-old still too-gorgeous-to-believe Diane Kruger. The actress and style icon exudes ease and self-confidence in the short film showing her everyday things such as walking the streets, chilling in a cafe or posing on the beach – all done in a perfectly finished skin. The movie well suggests the idea of earning beauty needs care, so ladies, do a favour to yourself and keep on mind that the less you stress, the more you sleep and the healthier you live the longer you will manage to keep your skin fresh and young!

Seit ich in einem nördlichem Land lebe, war ich fasziniert von der Haut der Frauen hier…Trotz der Probleme mit dem Alter, bleibt deren Haut immer schön und damit meine ich natürlich frisch und gesund aussehend. Wahrscheinlich hat es viel mit der positiven Einstellung, die hier herrscht, zu tun, aber auch die Gewohnheiten im Lebensstil und die Qualität der Hautpflegeprodukte, die sie benutzen. Blame it on the australian beauty Bambi Northwood-Blyth or on our one and only Cara Delevingne, but bushy eyebrows are completely in! I remember myself being in the age of 16 and busy over-plucking my brows so that it is not even close to be busy; since a while it’s 180 degrees the other way around. Last season I’ve participated in a MAC Trend presentation – held in London, where Terry Barber, Director of Makeup Artistry showed and explained how to achieve the desired strong brows by definitly not drawing them but rather by brushing and building up the colour gradually for ourselves. Otherwise, if you feel like calling in a pro, tinting also makes brows look fuller and thicker, takes a few minutes and can last up to six weeks (however, I assume the first option looks more natural). This new-old trend might divide the crowd but one thing is sure, strong brows lift the structure of your face, open your eyes and frame your features. It’s good to consider that brows don’t have to match your hair colour – in fact, darker eyebrows (than your hair colour) are better as they will add more definition to your face. Are you with or against?

SilkSoFine’s tip: If you chose to emphasise your eyebrows, go for plain eyes and rather put on some colourful lipstick!

I like Calvin Klein…I love the fragrances and when I saw the latest short film they created my heart was blown away – it was like a dream coming true…And why? Let’s start in the beginning before I get too excited. So it is all because the mini film features three of my beloved creatives in the persons of Rooney Mara actress, David Fincher director – who worked together on ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and the ‘Social Network’ movies earlier, while the music is played by the must-see band called Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The film is using the effect of slow motion and Mara is only shown in black and white what makes it mysterious and enigmatic as ever in a rather moody atmosphere. Telling the story of an actress who goes from subway so effortlessly with a classy, laid back simplicity that Rooney and Calvin Klein have in common. Rooney told WWD: “It’s an honour to be part of a brand with such a legacy of breakthrough advertising. The Downtown fragrance holds true to the chic, confident and simple feeling of the Calvin brand. The effortless and timeless appeal of the Calvin Klein Collection and the Downtown scent made this a natural partnership.” More lovely films like this please!

Dear ladies! For today’s post I’ll need your opinions and experiences to discuss some hair issues. We all have our favourite and least favourite body parts, our little tricks and tips on what to show and hide, but most probably we all have some special relation with our hair, hopefully a kind of a love-affair. We all want a mane of soft, silky, touchable locks but the reality is that hair grows only about a centimetre per month; and after years of colouring and straightening, it’s rather far from our dream hair…unless you consider the facts below and give the necessary treat for your hair.

1. Both colouring and over-washing can dry out your hair, so the less you shampoo and ammonia, the more hydrated it will be and the longer it will grow without breaking.

2. Condition, condition, condition. When your hair is well hydrated, it is less likely to dry out and split. Hair is a bit like skin – it takes a little of experimenting until you find your best matching products. I’d recommend natural products, and argan oil not from the shops but straight from Morocco.

3. Visit your hairdresser on a regular basis…Once in two months is the optimal.

4. It’s no secret that straight-haired women yearn for curly hair and vice-versa but try to protect your hair from heated styling tools, rather visit the hairdresser to help you achieve the desired style with professional methods.

5. And the hardest part for me: Let your hair down…Keeping your hair tightly pulled back can be damaging because the hair is being unnaturally pulled and tugged. Also, the act of pulling an elastic on and off can lead to breakage. The ones who love messy buns as much as I do, I can suggest doughnuts;)

Revlon has just announced it’s collaboration with Marchesa, best known for its over-the-top red carpet gowns, on three beauty collections that will include nail polish, lip and eye products, 3D nail art, and beauty tools. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig behind the Marchesa brand are tend to reflect some aristocratic eighteenth-century romanticism on each collection, in terms of prints, embellishment and volume, which will continue in the form of – as stated on Vogue earlier – a 3D Jewel Appliqué nail art collection that will feature eight different patterns inspired by Marchesa couture gowns. This collaboration aims through Revlon’s incredible global reach, that they will be able to bring a little piece of Marchesa to women around the world. The first Revlon by Marchesa nail art collection will launch in the UK in September, and it will not be any less impressive than the gowns themselves, so stay tuned!
