What defines ACNE? Exceptional Scandinavian edge, quality, denim and effortless coolness. And what defines ACNE miniature? Stylish and pure designs, raw denim and cuts that fit perfectly on children while being both cute, playful and functional. With the release of their first ACNE Miniature collection in 2008, children were able to get that signature ACNE Studios catwalk look in miniature sizes! Since then, each collection proves just how special these clothes are. ACNE’s excellence much lies in Jonny Johansson’s creative imagery; the brand’s designer has decided to adapt the best-sellers of the adult collection for children almost 6 years ago and ever since its success is been growing. You can find the mini version of the statement jeans, marble print T-s and sweaters in blueish hues exclusively on the Internet much to the delight of the online-shop lover moms and older sisters.
There have always been and still are people who you can almost identify with one magic word such as peace, love or even fashion. I’m talking about personalities who’s life is their message. Undoubtedly Karl Lagerfeld can be fit in those few and probably I don’t have to much discuss the why-s and how-s but to still get to the point; Karl Lagerfeld is our era’s so called ‘Fashion Pope’. Call him insane or an exceptional genius, the upcoming four-hours mini documentary that focuses on the designer’s career and the relationship between fashion and religion – drawing comparisons between fashion magazines and the Bible, and likening models to angels – will explain a lifestyle that is hard to imagine, difficult to understand and impossible to copy. The film was directed by television journalist Martina Neuen and will debut on the 7th of September in Munich, which Lagerfeld is expected to attend, to coincide with the launch of his boutique in the German city – as stated on Vogue. And what to expect from the film? The ever closest insight to Lagerfeld’s personality, much about devotion, fashion as a religion, fascination and a bunch of interviews with among others Diane Kruger, Sarah Jessica Parker, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista, Suzy Menkes and Milla Jovovich. It’s going to be big!
(more…)
I’m sure most of you have heard about the H&M Design Award that supports the initiative of inviting students from 19 major fashion colleges in eight European countries to participate in a contest. Yearly, there are 24 students are given the opportunity to go to Stockholm to meet with H&M’s Head of Design Ann-Sofie Johansson and members of the design team in the first rounds, while in the second round the eight best designers get to show their collections in London. In 2012, Danish designer Stine Riis took the first price, while in 2013 the South Korean-born Antwerp-based designer Minju Kim won. Her collection ‘DEAR MY FRIEND’ explored the relationship of colours and textures by infusing the traditional with the contemporary in terms of techniques, shapes and cultural references. The Award aims to discover fresh talents from the best fashion universities all over the world, including: London, Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Milan etc. My personal message with this post is to encourage you to apply and try our yourselves in front of the big crowd if you are enrolled in one of the concerned universities.
(more…)
Berlin seems to offer an utter fusion for everything and when it comes to fashion, genius meets the spirit of time. V E K T O R appears to be the most recent and appropriate example for the foregone. Young designers, Kristina Puljan and Martin Eichler were contemporaneously drawn to Berlin and got to know and love each other at the university ESMOD where they both studied. And no, it is not corny at all but the perfect base for something that Berlin was waiting for and found its opening and launch on a sun-drenched thursday early evening in Mitte.
